Cap10K

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

Gwen and I ran the Cap10K this morning, and we both did really well. Gwen actually bested me, but I’m blaming on my strained hip flexor, so that makes it ok. She finished in 53:30 and I finished in 55:20 according to the official results. Our running buddies Supriya and Angel turned in a great time of 76 minutes.

We were really hoping that the weather would hold out and the run would just be really muggy… but just as the corrals started closing and we started moving up to the start line, the clouds opened up. The rain really wasn’t too bad… mostly just a constant drizzle. It wasn’t the kind of rain that made it hard to see, but it was the kind of rain that meant you had to carry an extra 3 pounds of water that had soaked into your clothes.

But honestly, the race was great despite the rain. The corrals worked out pretty well and I wasn’t nearly as frustrated with the walkers, strollers, and rubber-neckers as I was at the Trail of Lights 5K. The finishing area was streamlined such that people could move out of the way quickly, and the food/free-stuff area was nice and open to avoid too much crowding.

Check out some of the offical photos of the Cap10K for now, and I’ll put up any photos that I find of Gwen and I as soon as possible.

San Antonio Half-Marathon Signup

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

Since we all know that goals are pretty much the only way to stay motivated sometimes, Gwen and I have signed up for the
Inaugural Rock ‘n Roll San Antonio Half-Marathon. It’s scheduled for November 16, 2008, so we have eight months to get ourselves shaped up for the race.
