Topics In Software Engineering

Dr. Dwayne Perry
Semester
Spring 2004

This class caught me a little off guard, especially since it was the first semester of the program. There is a lot of material in this class, and it’s mostly reading and analysis of research papers. Needless to say, don’t get behind in this class… Once I figured out how to study for the class, it got a lot better. By the end of the semester, I was really enjoying the material, I just wish I hadn’t gotten behind in the beginning.

I’ve been asked by other students if they should take this class because of the apparent difficulty, and my answer is always yes. I think that the material in this class is applicable to almost every niche of software and it fills in a lot of fundamental concepts that you may be missing.

As another measure of its value, I’ve cited or referred to this material at work and in conversation more then any other course.
